I'm 54, my mystery involves my grandparents in central Pennsylvania. My grandmother was born around 1900. My grandfather, who was supposed to go through with an arranged marriage to an Italian girl, ran off to marry my grandmother instead, a blonde fair skinned Lithuanian girl. He was disowned by much of his Italian family for this , but he didn't care. He doted on her and adored her all of his life (they both died in the 1980s). Anyway, none of us know much about my grandfather's mysterious love. She just appeared out if nowhere, nobody knows how they ended up together. She was an orphan, both of her parents died of unknown circumstances in the early 1900s, and apparently her Polish neighbors took her in, changed her name and her birthday, and made her learn and speak Polish. My mom has no idea why her mother had to change her identity or why her parents died together on the same day when she was just a child. I've tried several times to research this, but I can find nothing, since her name was legally changed so long ago.
