What is your personal Unresolved Mystery..as weird as it may sound?

Your story hits close to home... I never grew up with my father. He and my mother met in another state and were never married. I would always ask about him as a kid and would only get a few tidbits here and there about him. I tried searching for him for years online (back when it wasn't as easy to find someone as it is today) and never came up with anything. In 2011 I did a Google search of his name and found a hit through a genealogy site and discovered he had died in 2003. My father had been dead for 8 years and I had no clue... I dug further to discover he had been murdered in an attempted robbery. Didn't even die of natural causes, but because some 19 y/o kid held him up. I searched Google further to find an uncle and eventually half siblings. I made contact with them (in a state almost 1500 miles away from where I live) and made the trip to meet them and to visit my father's grave. They never even knew I existed. Going to my father's grave and having that be the first time we were "ever in the same place together" was beyond surreal but cathartic. I'm sure you have, but have you tried doing Google searches, entering his name, etc. What about trying to obtain a copy of his death certificate? Or contacting his last employer if you know who they are? With the info you have, this seems like it should have an easy answer/outcome, but I know firsthand how hard it can be to try and find these things out. It took me 30 years. If you think I might be able to help in some way based on what I've gone through, or want to pick my brain for ideas, please feel free to message me. I hope you find your father's resting place and have the closure you deserve.
