Working construction in Detroit a few years back. Had my Glock 19 on me(against the companies rules at the time to carry a firearm while at work but we were in East-Side detroit and I was the gopher in my personal vehicle for material and didnt give a fuck about a rule that wouldnt let me be on par with some of the scum that were in that area).
It was a nice day, summer, and i came to a stop sign in a bad area i was cutting through.(looked like a war zone).
Got a text from the foreman onsite for something, looked down for a couple seconds at the stop sign...in that time some dude put a gun through my open window and said "gimme" or something(cant rememeber exactly what he said but he yelled).
Pure fear had me quickly push the gun away from my head with my left hand, his gun went off and blew out my passenger side window...my right hand pulled my pistol that was laying in my lap...he didnt make it that day and I got to take a ride to wayne county PD instead of going back to work.(was cleared quickly on self defense grounds).
I still think about it from time to time...how a split second later he could have pulled the trigger if he had noticed I was armed too...or if i would have missed when hitting his gun out of my face.
Thank God for allowing guys to own and carry a gun. Without mine on me I cant say I would be at home today looking at my son and wife.
