What is your story of platonic love?

I met my best friend about a year ago. Actually the first time I really talked to her she was crying in a random hallway in our college because of a grade she got. I comforted her, and we kind of got to know each other afterwards. We also found out that we were both living at the college over the summer working random jobs, and over the course of the summer she would always come to my room to hang out because almost no one else was on campus. I grew to really like her (not platonically) but during a heart to heart at 4am she told me she had been talking to this guy for like 6 months. He was military though, so he wasn't around and couldn't really give her the attention she wanted. We just kind of shared our life stories that night, and were pretty much have been attached at the hip ever since. She stopped talking to that guy eventually, but I also stopped having feelings for her in that way soon(ish) after I found out about him. We're both biology majors, so we then spent a lot of time together studying things throughout the next year, and just in general hanging out. She's an RA so she feels weird being seen going out to parties and things like that, and I don't drink so basically every Saturday night was just us doing something random together. Whenever either of us has a problem, we're the first one that hears about it from each other. For example, I crashed my car at like 5:30am two days ago, (no other car was involved I just fucked up) and I texted her immediately and she called me right back and basically just calmed me down because I was pretty shaken up. This summer we're apart because we're both doing internships in states that are like 7-8 hours away from each other, but we still talk a lot and skype once a week for like 4 hours at a time. People keep saying we should date at our college, and the people living with me at this internship immediately assumed that me skyping for hours meant that she was my girlfriend, when actually she's a very very good friend that happens to be a girl. We already have plans of things to do together when we get back to school (going to see a Chance concert, etc). I've never told anyone I loved them before, even my parents, but I for sure love her.
