We made a huge mistake firing Hextall.

Fletcher so far gets a solid "B" from me for all his work to date as Flyers GM.

I was not blindly on board with everything Hextall did, but I was okay being patient one more year. And I think he would have made big moves this season if he wasn't fired..he said he was working on stuff at his post-firing press conference.

I might drop this feeling if Holmgren and Scott ever explained the real reason for firing Hextall, which I don't believe they did. Their only stated reason was a difference in opinion about making big moves to "win now." Yet that reason for firing Hextall fell apart when Fletcher made virtually no big roster moves all season (at least nothing Hextall wouldn't have done).

Anyway, what's done is done, and I'm hoping Fletcher can finish what Hextall started by bringing a Cup.
