What was your worst moment of someone accidentally hearing you talk mad sh*t about them?

Not mad shit, but kinda screwed up. Im working as a kitchen porter in a small hotel. I was young and i was making friends in the kitchen. When I first got there the kitchen team didn't really talk to each other. After a week or so I think being young and cheeky I had broken down the walls with people and it became a loud, fun environment. The boss didn't say anything but really didn't approve of the new louder and more relaxed vibe in the kitchen.

One day, I was called into the office by the boss. She asks me "If I caught someone on their phone when they should be working do you think its fair to fire them?" I say, I don't know, maybe. She then says that she is going to fire me if she sees me on my phone again. I'm clueless, I never use my phone at work. I start protesting, "I don't use my phone at work. This is bullshit, I work hard and you bring me in here threatening my job? There are plenty of people that use their phones at work all throughout this hotel and I'm not one of them."

She calmly says, "Well if it isn't you, who is the person I am getting you confused with?"

"Not naming names but if you went into any department, you'd see it pretty quickly."

She gets up and tells me to follow her. She walks into the kitchen and when they see her, people start quickly throwing their phones under kitchen towels or into their pockets etc.

"Good afternoon everyone. [Afrocrow] here just told me that everyone except him is on their phones and that it is totally fair to fire you all for it. Im not that harsh but i am going to give everyone of you a verbal warning."

She then leaves and I'm just standing there in silence while 9 other people are looking at me like a piece of shit. I start to explain and the head chef interrupts.
"Just stop it. Don't even try to talk. Go back to your area."

Try working in that kitchen after that.
