This was my wife's life as a child.

Not covering for partying and whatnot, her parents were poor as hell and were constantly working to scrape by, but the result was similar, and she had to raise her siblings.

​

She did manage to work around it a bit, and did have some social life of her own, but she was responsible for everything those kids did, and all of the chores around the house, and a great deal more.

​

Now, as an adult, her siblings both come to her with all of their problems and secrets, and not their mom, and the mother is heartbroken and confused and doesn't understand why those ungrateful brats act like their sister is their mother.
