What's the best advice you've gotten whilst going through a difficult time?

I was going through a tough time my last year of high school, I had to read The Great Gatsby for an assignment and literally the first page of the book game some really good advice.

In my younger and more vulnerable years my father gave me some advice that I've been turning over in my mind ever since.

"Whenever you feel like criticizing any one," he told me, "just remember that all the people in this world haven't had the advantages that you've had."

It really put things into perspective for me. At that time I realize critized everyone. It made me realize how lucky and privileged I was. Growing up with parents that had really good jobs, being able to attend private schools, learn to speak english, live a really comfortable life, etc.
