Not bullshitting about it. People in general are not very fond of drugs in Sweden. We had one of those anti-drug days in school in high scool, this was in 2008 or 2009 so I was 16 or 17 years old. A recovering addict who visited classes and shared his life story said someting that always stuck with me. He was about 60 years old at the time, which meant that he was coming of age in Stockholm in the 60's and 70's when heavy drugs such as heroin or amphetamine was first introduced in Sweden and caused quite an epidemic. He had a lot of horror stories about sleeping in toilets at the subway, stealing prescripted medicine from the hospital in which he worked as a nurse, countless relapses and countless friends dead. At the end of his story he made the point that nicotine was the real gateway drug, not cannabis or alcohol. He was really firm about it too in a weird way like "If there's one thing I need you to remember it's this!!!". As a teenager in Sweden that was very refreshing to hear (for those who don't know, Sweden is one of the most conservative countries in Europe regarding drug policies, to the point that they're still debating wheter or not medicial marijuana can be benefeitial to some individuals..) Didn't help me fuck all though since I became a drug addict myself.
