I used to live in an orphanage. One day this volunteer comes into a room I’m in with other kids and asks us our names. I’m the only one who ignores her. She thinks this is funny and finds it out from someone else.

A couple weeks later she wants to take out a little boy for a fun day out(he already had a family, he just stayed there through the week) because he keeps following her but wants another kid similar in age to him to keep him company. She looks through a list of names and sees mine, remembers how I brushed her off, and picks me.

A few months later I’m a regular at her and her husband’s apartment on the weekends and less than a year later I’m adopted.
