Whats the deal with the hacking?

My apologies if my previous comment seemed naive, i'm not too familiar with hacking in general. I understand that there are already server-sided checks (i remember when unplugging your lan cable and then moving and finally reconnecting your lan cable was a thing haha) and that dupers do directly mess with the servers. As far as i'm aware tho, botting is a significant (if not the majority) of the hacking and working to stop it is a worthy cause in itself (even if we have to look at duping later on). However from what i see, if the botting was done in a fashion that employs character movements that are traditionally legal then there is reason to believe that simple server-sided rules might not be able to detect them but from my gameplay so far the botters are usually just teleporting to mobs in some sequential fashion. I guess with that said I just don't see how they could have checks for the "disappearing" or "hiding" (i would hazard a guess as to how this is done and say that the bots are either teleporting to a corner of the screen or are simply moving maps since i'm inclined to assume modifying character appearance is server-sided or else we would see mods that will allow players to modify their character appearance without nx/items (although it would only be on their client alone and others would see their true appearance)). But either of these actions would require that the character be able to teleport what is an "unnatural" distance and if the server-sided checks are able to catch these then they should be (perhaps with a little modification) just as easily be able to catch botters. However, I do understand that talking about coding checks in such an abstract fashion is much far removed from actually coding these checks within required parameters (computation costs, etc.)
