What's the difference between loving a person and loving the idea of a person?

I dont see any problem with it. People date for years fall in love and then breakup. Maybe what you have isnt deep love but its a great start. Everyone has different experiences and because of your loveless marriage you probably dont want to waste time and just go with your heart. She is a bit more cautious because she may have some emotional baggage and is scared if she changes her mind she will break your heart because you are very invested. The appeal of you being a stable partner for her child may have been a factor for her too. She was very lucky to find someone who was willing to take on that responsibility. I would say keep an open mind and maybe date other girls so you can see how you feel. When you follow your heart it may get broken but nothing worse than being in a marriage with no love or passion.
