Quick rundown...

Birchbox: $10 per month. 5 to 8 samples (usually 5), typically samples ranging from foils to deluxe, occasional full size. Value is usually $20-30. Offers a points based reward system which nets you a minimum $6 return on each box to spend in the shop (not including points for buying your sub if you do more than month to month). Always a good sign up deal for bonus points, % offs, bonus items, etc. Mix of hair, skin, makeup typically, but occasional lifestyle items like tea, chocolate, hair ties. Higher end then the other $10 option.

Ipsy is also $10. 5 items plus a makeup bag. More makeup than Birchbox, but still includes hair and skin. Generally larger sizes (some regular sample sizes to full size) but lower end and drugstore. There is. Points system, but rewards are randomly released, and it takes longer to earn for less return than Birchbox.

I've subbed to both, but have cancelled ipsy in favor of my two Birchbox subs. Birchboxdoes a sample choice each month to pick one of your samples, or the option for a nice curated boxes. I like having the option of choosing the curated if I like it plus getting the samples...plus the amazing points system.

Glossybox is $21 per month. More deluxe sample/travel size to full size, mix of makeup, hair, and skin. Values range from $55 to $75. Points system is to earn free boxes. 120 points per box, 1000 to get a free box. Occasional surveys for bonus points.

Boxycharm is also $21 and similar in type contents to glossybox . I don't know much about this one otherwise...

I get Glossybox currently, but picked it up at a deal that got it under $15 per month. I've been happy with it at that price point.

All of the boxes tend to have some sort of deal from time to time to get them cheaper or score some sort of bonus. Ipsy has a wait list or requires you to jump through social media hoops to skip it, which is a huge turn off to some. I don't recall ever seeing ipsy have a sub deal outside of signing up for a year.
