What's everyone's opinion?

The redesigned combat was bound to receive critism since the parrying and roll dodging mechanics are not anywhere as polished as Dark Souls... it still feels like a “beat em’ up” (press square until triangle time hit combos). One aspect I liked from the original were the npc town interactions; e.g. “high profile” actions like bumping into an npc who drops a vase would trigger the guard alert sequence then force you to hide, or climbing up the street facing side of a building would trigger the stone throwing event for stun or knockdown, etc. the social stealth mechanic. The player can just enter and burglarize any home in town without consequence? That should trigger the guard alert to drive a public menace out of town! It didn’t even feel like the people were being oppressed, i.e. slavery was common practice, so the objectives of the “rebels” were unclear. The same for the modern day segments. The protagonist went rogue to discover military secrets... of course the company would mark her as a threat... that’s how military secrets are handled. I mean Desmond Miles was kidnapped, imprisoned against his will, and forced into a dream machine that broke the minds of previous test subjects (whom often committed suicide). There used to be tension in the story, now it’s handled more like a “rebel” side mission.
