What's a good Doug Standhope Special?

No. They both glorify drug use in a certain way.

Even somebody like Bill Hicks, who was VERY pro-drugs, doesn't put this same bad taste in my mouth, that Stanhope, and Benson do.

Stanhope is advocating alcohol/drug use... just because getting fucked up is fun.

Benson is advocating marijuana use... just because getting fucked up is fun.

They both know there are HEAVY consequences to their actions, but minimize them, to help prove their point. It's sort of like Terrence McKenna(if you are familiar with him... he was a famous drug advocate, who advocated taking "heroic" doses of mushrooms. He didn't tell his followers that he had stopped taking mushrooms YEARS ago, because he had a bad trip from these "heroic" doses").

Bill Hicks and Chappelle are great examples of talking about using drugs, in a MORE(not totally) responsible way.

Bill Hicks promoted certain drugs, but RAILED against others(like Alcohol, Heroin, etc).

Chappelle may, from time to time, say that weed is fun, etc... but he never gives the illusion that being an alcoholic/drug addict is DESIRABLE, ACCEPTABLE, or FUN.

The sad part is, that many people who are young look up to stanhope, and try to emulate him. It's only after a few years of drinking and smoking every day, that they find out drinking and smoking every day only works if your job is an entertainer.

Stonhope talks about how he used to try to help people... but he gave up. I don't admire this(and it's one of my biggest problems with his stand-up). But, at least he admits it.
