I investigated the death of a mostly headless man found in the back seat of a car. Nobody saw the death itself, but the aftermath was grim.

Red windows with streaks where blood gathered enough to run down the glass. Brain tissue, teeth, partial eyeballs, and an oddly-intact pair of eyeglasses knocked into the front seat. The shotgun, resting by lifeless hands. The empty bowl of a skull, missing the top and front.

The ceiling of the car had no damage from the shot. It was birdshot, so after his head absorbed the energy of the muzzle gases and pellets, there wasn't enough force left to penetrate the fabric of the ceiling. His head basically exploded in a shower of gore.
