What's the most horrific act committed by someone you know personally? [NSFW]

I watched it play out.

Like I said, it was the darling wish of the other side of the aisle to shut down mental hospitals, and there was no real plan for sibstitution, only that medical advances now made it possible (not really) for the mentally ill to take pills and be taken care of by family or theoretical community centers funded by ? In case you haven't noticed many years have elapsed without much alteration. Refusal to force medication, family burnout, use of jail as a substitute for asylums or other incarceral care are t all there is to it but Reagan did not cause it, and he's been dead a long time and Clinton, Obama, and Biden and all the other branches of federal government, and all state and local governments are not off the hook either. Not to mention the schism psychiatrists had for so long on the physiological basis of illness.

If you think we should have spent more capital of the nation on researching, treating, managing mental illness, we don't disagree.

I believe in a return of incarceral care in more therapeutic settings than exist and for longer periods, but it's not clear who is going to pay for that (or even really tailored, no or low cost medicines and supervision of same.)The grail is to prevent or stop the neurological issues from developing or worsening.
