What's one part in your current PC that you regret buying?

Saw you mentioning in an other post you can't figure how to overclock your CPU. Actually its quite easy.

  1. enter the bios (usually done by spamming Escape, Delete, or F12 when booting). here you maneuver to the overclocking tab. It should look kinda like this http://www.overclockers.com/forums/attachment.php?attachmentid=145824&stc=1&d=1404139393 but the user interface may be different (widely different. what matters is the text in the middle with the settings).

  2. the ONLY value you need to pay attention to is the "CPU RATIO". If it i auto, start increasing it until you hit stock speeds (look at the "adjusted cpu frequency", that one tells you how fast the cpu runs).

  3. Then increase it one time more (should increase the "adjusted cpu frequency" by 100mhz).

  4. on the topicc of "Vcore", or as the bios calls it "cpu core voltage". http://www.kitguru.net/wp-content/uploads/2014/05/OC_2.jpg (again, example. the ui may be different). It is usually set to "auto", so you need to scroll down and set it manually. I'd start at 1.15v. And since you're new to it, don't go over 1.3v no matter what you do (if you got a weak cooler like a 212 evo or a cryorig h7 i recomend stopping at 1.25v).

  5. exit the bios and save. Did you remember to do step 3? It's important!

  6. Run "IntelBurnTest" (it works on all CPUs, not just intel) for ~15 minutes. Watch the temperature and watch for freezing. if it does not overheat, feeze, or outright crash you're likely stable.

  7. Congratulations, you have overclocked your CPU. Repeat step 3-5 until you are no longer stable, or your CPU hits too high temperatures during step 4. Then repeat step 3, excep you will go DOWN one notch (decreasing "adjucted cpu frequency" by 100mhz)

If you after overclocking experience crashing or instabilities, then just reduce your overclock again.
