What's a painting hot take you might have?

Most "OSL" people do with airbrushes is just lazy and it makes the models look worse. Half or more of the lighting is hitting areas that the light couldn't reach from whatever is supposed to be glowing because they just spray over the whole area. It doesn't create the effect of glowing light at all.

Airbrushes in general seem to make a lot of people think they're creating sick effects, but when applied without any attempt of understanding shading or highlights or lighting it just looks awful. But everyone has their boners out for airbrushed everything and seem to think it's some sort of magic for making their models look better. When used appropriately the effect is pretty amazing, but 90% of their use seems to be unthoughtful and lazy. That attitude is a blight on painting IMO because people aren't bothering to understand what they're doing, they just buy a cool toy then spray everything and call it a day while everyone praises the sad results of their laziness.

Not knowing how to paint but trying is great. Not even trying grosses me out. Just giving a shit is so much better than buying a new toy and calling it a day.
