What's the rarest thing (or not a thing) that you've ever seen/witnessed?

A bit long, but here's what happened.

A few years ago, I went scuba diving in the Gulf of Mexico with a few of my friends from high school. We'll call them Timmy, Sarah, and Hank.

Timmy had a case of thalassophobia (fear of the ocean) and we needed to do a lot of talking to convince him to do it with us. Timmy was one of those guys that got really nervous really easily, but getting over his fear of the ocean was something that he wanted to do.

When we got on the boat to head toward our diving spot, we agreed to have Sarah comfort Timmy while he was anxious on the boat.

But the farther we got out, the worse Timmy got. He had his head in his hands the whole time, but seemed to be keeping his cool. But when we got pretty far out, Timmy starts having a panic attack. It's a mess. He pushes Sarah away, gets up, starts running around having nowhere to go because he's trapped on a boat, and hyperventilating. He ends up vomiting and then proceeds to panic even more. All this happened in a span of about 10 seconds but it felt like an eternity. Timmy accidentally sends himself over the edge of the boat in a state of panic and we hear him screaming bloody mary as he's thrashing in the water as the boat continues off. If we left him like that, he would surely die, so me and Hank quickly jump in the water to save him. We quickly swim over to him but he loses it and goes underwater, frozen in a state of shock.

Me and Hank both dive underwater, and I notice blood in the water. I have no idea where it came from, and have no idea if Hank noticed it, but I ignored it so I could pay attention to the task at hand. Me and Hank both reach for Timmy and start swimming upwards toward the surface. While we were swimming back up, I noticed a shadow in the distance underwater and couldn't quite make out what it was, but had to continue to the surface. Once we surface, Timmy is out cold but Hank is keeping him afloat. I tell Hank that I'm going back under for a second to look at something and he gave me a strange look but nodded.

So I dove underwater, and nothing could have prepared me for what I saw. I couldn't believe it even though it was right in front of my face. It was a huge bull shark staring me right in the face. Or so I thought. That's when I noticed it was actually 500 feet tall and from the Paleolithic era, and had eaten the boat we were on. It swims off without incident and we quickly go to shore with Timmy, never to dive again.
