Back when I was in around 5th grade there was a friend of my older sister that was a charm to be around. He was a great skier as we lived up near a ski resort, but with that skill he took many risks. He and a good friend were skiing after a huge blizzard, great snow and lots of fun. Some areas get so much snow that they fence off the areas due to avalanche risk, unfortunately he decided to pass the fence to experience uncharted territory with more snow then you can imagine. From what I know it was going pretty well until they started to see the snow shift and crack. It began to slide and that's when the avalanche began. The snow carried them down until it stopped and packed up all in one general area. The two were caught right in the middle buried deep into the snow. When you are this deep in the snow, oxygen is scarce and everytime you breathe out you release carbon dioxide into the small space you are stuck in. Over time you begin to asphyxiate, and sadly that's what happened to him. Ski patrol could not uncover him in time and he was already dead by the time they did get him.
