What's the scariest/ creepiest thing you've seen in your own home?

Tldr: what addicts will do for a fix

My mother and her boyfriend had drug problems and met in rehab. They were both doing well for a while. At some point they slipped. Things were very bad when she became terminally ill. Cancer patients get some very nice pain and anxiety mess. This brought out the worst in both of them.

I wasn't aware of how bad things were for a while. The boyfriend actually kept me from finding out that my mom was dying. I eventually found out and insisted on visiting her at home. There were cameras rigged up throughout the house. They weren't for the security. They were pointed at my mother and her medication. Asshole had an app on his phone to watch them remotely and listen to the microphone. He didn't want my mother to tell anyone how bad the abuse was or that he was taking her medication and selling it.

I ended up figuring all this out and kicked him out with the help of several people in the neighborhood. I'm decently tech savvy, so I got to work disabling the cameras. I ripped the wires out, then went to the wireless router to change the network configuration info.

There were devices, active devices, that I never did find.

I unplugged everything in the house I could think of and I didn't find it. I ended up shutting off the Internet entirely.

I was too creeped out to stay there. Good thing, too, because Asshole broke in during the middle of the night. When he didn't find me he started squatting. I had to kick him out again. He moved out in a rush that time and didn't come back. He left a whole bunch of things he didn't want.

In the middle of the bedroom floor was an old, obviously used motion detector I had never seen before. It may have been wireless. That means there was still one more device in that house that had been watching me and my mother.

The worst part was the missing kitchen knives. One for each one of his Asshole friends who had bothered me at my mom's funeral. That gave me chills.

I moved to another city after that.
