Whats a small town dark secret you know?

There was a little boy at a school who was being abused by his mother's boyfriend. Always wore long sleeves even in the hottest months so he could hide his bruises. Eventually he confided this to a girl in his class and the girl went to the teacher crying, begging for someone to help her friend. The teacher understandably told the principle and begged her to take action. The principle said that they had no authority to do that (lie, if the school believes a child is in danger of that magnitude, they are more than allowed to intervene) and that there was no proof that the kid was actually being abused and that if the teacher brought it up again, there would be trouble. His mother's boyfriend killed him that very weekend. The little girl he confided in? Emotionally nuked. The teacher was absolutely furious that nothing had been done and the principle played the "oh, it's such a tragedy, I had no idea" card. Never faced any consequence for it. That boy's blood is on her hands, I hope she knows that.
