What's the smallest decision you made that had the biggest impact on your life?

Tldr: One afternoon in high school I checked an email account that I hadn't logged into in 4 months. Seeing a message in this account completely changed my life path.

So I had an old Hotmail account that I had gotten away from checking for many months at a time. It was new year's eve, junior year of high school. It was late afternoon and my plans for the night fell through hours before. I was incredibly bummed out and bored. Having no idea what to do, and sitting in front of my computer at that moment, I decided to open my hotmail. Coincidentally there was an invitation to a house party that had been sitting in my inbox for a couple weeks from an old friend I hadn't talked to all year. So I go to this party and meet a girl who would become my girlfriend for the rest of high school.

Being with her derailed everything in my life. I had detailed plans before I met her. I had a serious hobby (music), I had my college and career path picked based on my hobby, I had a vision. Months after being with her I had quit my hobby of 8 years and lost all related friends.

Because of being with her, I was in the place/time to land a particular part time job. Working at this job established the people that would be my friends to this day. Without those friends I wouldn't have met my wife, wouldn't have majored in my degree, and probably wouldn't even be living in the same city. None of this happens without me checking that email that afternoon.
