My 26 yo(ish) SIL regularly did this with my boyfriend's car to avoid paying for her own petrol (something she freely admitted to me - she was working full time and her insurance / car itself were (and still are) paid for by her dad, so don't know how she justifies that). I say 'did' only because eventually he sold the car and I refuse to let her use mine. She even did it when her car was parked outside?? Can't fathom it. Really that's a massive pet hate of mine - if you're going to use something of someone else's, replace it! It's not hard.
