What's so special about marriage

For me it is the religious significance. But it is time for the government to overhaul it and the alimoney and support laws.

I spend time on r/marriage and lots of people are miserable. Unlike TRP leads you to believe, more men are making the same complaints as women and wanting out.

Right now divorces are instituted more by women, but I strongly suspect the percentage of younger men not willing to be stuck will petition for divorce more.

Lots of women are in denial but marriage today is not entered into as a permanent institution, but done for show, and entered into with too many unrealistic expectations.

Marriage rates are dropping all throughout the west.

If you are not going to stay, IMO it's not marriage but serial marriage and the government should consider dividing marriage into temporary marriage licenses and a more traditional marriage license. Same tax benefits for both, but no alimony, no asset split, for temporary marriages with no-fault divorce allowed and keep the existing laws for traditional marriage with adjustments reflecting equal treatment of spouses with no-fault divorce banned.

I love marriage and always wanted it as a permanent way of life but my version has gone and been replaced by the open-marriage, temporary marriage. Society and the media encourages this and silences the more traditional marriage supporters.
