Just wanted to pop in and say I agree with you. It gets old seeing the knee-jerk downvoting that goes on here.

Put it in perspective people. Human beings have been FUCKING AWFUL since forever. You’re not seeing the big picture if you don’t accept that the human condition is, has been, and always will be a carnival of horrors, and that it takes a lot of civilization to really get things to a somewhat decent livable condition.

The things that are broken in our civilization have nothing to do with guns or politics. You can’t fix the “soul” as easily as fixing the tools or the rules. I don’t have the answers, but I’m sure as SHIT happy that guns exist, and law enforcement/military people exist, keeping my ass safe from the tidal forces of mindless, reckless human atrocity.

Humans will always find ways to surprise you with the extent of horrific stupidity they’re capable of. The efficiency of modern technology has simply made this more obvious than ever before. As far as I’m concerned, nothing has changed in 2018 - it’s just that now we have the technology to fully illuminate the human animal in all its beauty and ugliness.
