What's the weirdest or craziest thing happen at a zoo?

Back in 2010, I was at Jungle Island in Miami with friends. At one point, I had gone off on my own and was on my way to regroup with everyone when I began hearing yells and screaming around the corner and ahead of me.

At this point, several things happened very quickly.

As the first sounds of screaming meet my ears, I come to a full stop just as a gibbon goes racing past me off into the park.

I'm standing there simultaneously thinking, "Was that a monkey just now? Is that what everybody is freaking out about?"

No sooner had those thoughts fired in my mind than a large shape in my peripherals caught my attention, and I turn to see a full grown fucking bengal tiger lope past me, literally within arm's reach.

I remember it took several seconds for me to register what I was seeing, and the tiger suddenly stopped about 200 feet away from me, as if suddenly unsure of where it was. (In retrospect, it very much reminded me of what a housecat will do when they abruptly blast into a room, only to stop and just stand there looking around, as if they forgot what they were on their way to do).

I did an about face and fled around the corner, and I remember looking back and seeing the tiger looking around in apparent confusion at the few people in the area now freaking out and yelling.

Long story short, both animals were soon recaptured without incident, thankfully. I was soon reunited with my friends, who had not been in the area when it happened, and needless to say they were very interested to hear my account. They pointed out how once again, I seem to be a magnet for crazy situations. http://www.nbcmiami.com/news/local/Tiger-Escapes-At-Jungle-Island-101720603.html
