What's the weirdest thing you've done as a result of social anxiety?

When I first started working as a lawyer I walked into the office of another junior associate and sat down while he was on the phone, waiting for him to finish so we could go to the pub or whatever. I overheard the most uncomfortable voicemail ever:

"Hey, I'm going on leave tomorrow so I'm just chasing up that report for me... well, not for me, for my client. I'm about to head out to (brief silence as he avoids mentioning he's off to the pub) home so you can give me a call back tomorrow to discuss it. Wait, don't call me back tomorrow I'm going on leave. I'll be back on Tuesday, you can call me on Tuesday if you like. Ok, you have a good trip then. Wait, you're not going on a trip, I'm going on a trip. You have a good weekend... and a good a rest of the week. I'll talk to you when I get back. When you call me. Ok bye"

This is not exaggerated at all. It was that awkward. The "wait, you're not going on a trip, I am!" bit actually made me start giggling which I think made things worse for him. He's doing well now but his career as a lawyer did not last very long.
