What's wrong with southern USA?

That was so weird to me when I first traveled outside of the south. Black people are pretty much only in cities up north. Whereas down south black people are everywhere.

I have zero patience for people from homogeneous white communities that never have to contend with racial and cultural differences looking down on southerners for supposedly being racist. I work abroad with people from all over the English speaking world and it’s not an uncommon occurrence for someone to probe into my upbringing and ask me about crazy racist shit they assume I witnessed growing up. A lib from Oregon tried to ask me specific questions about how the KKK operates and he acted shocked when I told him I have never met someone affiliated with an explicitly white supremacist organization (that I was aware of) ??? Turns out HE has several family members in right wing militia groups and thought it would be more common in the south
