I used to gamble ALOT at the racetrack. A few years ago, I had bet a 'trifecta' box on these 3 long shot horses to run 1st, 2nd and 3rd in any order. I should mention this bet was on a race at Churchill Downs on the day of the Kentucky Derby. The pool I was betting into had around 1.5 million dollars in it. The track takes out its 17% then pays out the rest divided amongst the number of winning tickets.

Anyhow! Back to those 3 long shots. The last quarter of the race, my horses are running first, second and fourth. The third place horse was the favorite and fading after leading the whole time. The rest of the field was far back so it's just these 4. One and two finish and it's down to my horse closing in fourth on the outside of the favorite. I swear my horse clipped him by a nose at the wire... Not just saying that, he had it... they post the favorite finished third and my horse 4th. They show a photo then they take at the line which had the favorite clearly winning. Only thing, it could not possibly have beat my horse in 4th by the distance they are showing in that picture. Then, they post the payouts: the trifecta pool I had bet into, had 1 winner and paid out over 1 million dollars since the pool only got divided by 1. I waited a few minutes for the official sign, saw it, drove home and drank myself to sleep. I haven't gambled on horses since.
