What's your experience with the lab?

I have nothing but respect for everyone I work with. We're a team.

That being said, the lab can drive me absolutely bonkers!!! No, my sample is not contaminated. No a Hgb of 3.3 is not expected, but that doesn't mean it's not real... release my results so I can fix it. Yes, I understand that my sample is clotted... but that's probably because I sent it to you 3 hours ago and you're just now running it.

The number of times I've had a lab tech argue with me about where my blood came from just makes my blood boil. You aren't here! Result it or cancel it! I have things to do. And don't tell me you can't declot a lab when I know you can.... I'm sorry it's going to take you more time, but is it really worth the pain and blood waste at the patient's expense??

Like I said, we're a team. But the superiority complex goes both ways. I promise to always do my best to send quality samples if you promise not to hold me on the phone for 10 minutes with inane questions that don't change the end result.
