What's your "this isn't what it looks like!" story?

I moved into my current apartment last June, and when I did my landlady told me that my furnace was broken. The gas line had been checked by the gas company, so there was no danger to me, but there would be no heat. It's the middle of summer, so I was fine with it. June passed, then July, then August, and I had repeatedly asked when it would be fixed.

Long story short, October rolls around and they finally hire someone to fix it after I had experienced some 45-degree mornings. They tell me the contractor will be there sometime between 10 and 10:30, so I get up early and make sure the apartment is clean. Noon rolls around, and he still hasn't shown up. As I look out my window (to see if, perhaps, he was at the wrong apartment), I noticed I still had my A/C in the window.

Now, I may have been wrong here, but it felt weird to me to have an AC box in the window (that I hadn't used for a while) while having someone fix my heat. So I endeavor to bring it in from the window. It starts to fall out the window (and I remember that we had two people put it in and I should have someone help me take it out), and I have to reach around to the back to catch it. So basically, I'm hugging the AC box.

As I start to wiggle it back into my apartment, I hear a knock at the door. Frantically, I get it inside and rush to the door. I open the door, and it's the contractor. "Hey, thanks for coming by to fix the furnace." He gives me a weird look, and points to my hands.

"Did I come at a bad time?"

I look down, and my wrists are covered in blood. Apparently, in wrapping my hands around the AC box, I cut open both my wrists and in the hurry of getting the door, I never even noticed. So I did my best to explain that I wasn't suicidal, and he fixed my furnace (very quickly, actually).

It was a rough weekend.
