What's your recommendation on a camping lantern/fun for kids in a fort?

I've always been interested in a tent/camp lantern, but have been disappointed by the available offerings. Mediocre quality, with low light output.

The best solution seems to be adding a diffuser onto an already floody light. Such as the Noctigon Meteor M43 or BLF Q8 + Fenix AOD-L Diffuser.

Recently found out that LED light bulb plastic covers make for great custom diffusers as well: http://budgetlightforum.com/node/62186

The progression of floodiness seems to be: Zoomie < Floody w/ Optics (eg Meteor w/ Carclo Optics) < Flood w/ Optics Removed < LCD screen diffusers

Luminit diffusers are hard to obtain, an available alternative is DC-Fix. I have an order of cheap backlight film replacements for smartphones coming in next week, and I'll update on how it turns out.
