What's your view on Scottish independence?

My overriding thought is that it's a matter for the Scottish people, and I don't like to weigh in on it too much. That said, I find one thing puzzling about the SNP position.

Leaving the EU is bad for Scotland. I get that; I'm a remainer and I think it's bad for the rest of the UK as well. But if Brexit goes ahead, especially with no deal, Scotland leaving the UK will have a much more serious impact on the Scottish people than Brexit ever could.

Scotland is not especially exposed to EU markets, and exports an absolute majority of its goods and services to the rest of the UK. To leave the UK following Brexit would represent a very serious shock to the Scottish economy. This is to say nothing of the damage that a hard border would do to families currently split between Scotland and the rest of the UK.

Also, rejoining the CAP and CFP, and joining the Euro and Schengen, are some specific issues that I think would be real sticking points if Scotland wanted to join the EU after Brexit.
