What's your worst airbnb story?

I've stayed in quite a few AirBnBs. I'm in one right now, in fact! Almost all have been great, with nothing like the nightmare experiences I've had in a few hotels.

That said, there was one that was far from a nightmare, but pretty unpleasant to live in for the six weeks we were there. It was in an older and not at all soundproof European house right underneath a single mom and her three very young children whose only hobby seemed to be running around the house all day long. School days were generally okay, but they had an awful lot of vacations while we were there, and every weekend/vacation day we'd be awakened around 6 AM (we are not morning people) by this stomping, which would go on pretty much until noon. Sometimes it would then stop for a couple of hours, then start up again. To add to this, the mother herself enjoyed playing her stereo loud enough that our walls shook. My husband went up to ask her nicely a few times to turn down the stereo, which usually resulted in a yelling match. We complained to the host, who promised to talk to the building manager, but nothing ever happened.

Another problem was that we had booked a one-bedroom apartment (we always do so that we can have a bit of privacy from each other when we want). This apartment was technically a one-bedroom apartment, but it was tiny and had no door between the two rooms, so in effect, it was a studio. The fridge was tiny, the kitchen was tiny, and there were hardly any dishes, silverware, or even furniture. It felt like someone had done the bare minimum to throw together an apartment to put on AirBnB.

Just for one final fuck you, the host left us a bad review because the apartment "was very dirty" when we left. Aside from the fact that we had paid a cleaning fee, we also always wash the dishes, take out the trash, and sweep the floors before we leave. We've had reviews from various other hosts thanking us for leaving the place so clean.
