When Bernie supporters don't research...

Guess where else they have metal detectors? Disneyland Paris. That is Paris, France, which has stricter gun laws than Canada. I've also heard but don't have a good source that the detectors were put in place at least in part as a response to the Paris shootings.

You're in Canada and you have relatively lax gun laws compared to the rest of the world, but your country is pretty safe.

In Mexico they have very strict gun control laws, but it is much more dangerous than the US or Canada.

The US as a whole has the most free gun laws of any country, and we have a mix of very safe areas and very dangerous areas. The dangerous areas are mostly places with a lot of gang activity. The US has a gang problem. Blaming the level of violence on guns is putting the cart before the horse. Even if you managed to implement strict gun control and confiscate the hundreds of millions of guns in the country, we would continue to have high levels of violence in certain areas, just like Mexico does. Gun control might make a tiny dent in overall murder rates or whatever measure you want to use, but it would also make it harder for a lot of people to defend themselves. Also, lots of people in rural areas do frequently need guns to protect themselves from dangerous animals and hunting is very popular.

I have several guns and they are all locked up and unloaded in a downstairs closet. I don't keep any accessible for self defense, and I don't carry one or keep one in my car, even though I legally could. I do not ever see myself participating in a violent uprising against the government. So I am not some sort of paranoid gun nut. But I don't think you are being objective about your dislike of guns.
