When did the generation of “don’t believe everything you read on the internet” start believing everything they read on the internet?

Honestly, I just feel bad for the older generations. I mean, they didn't grow up to expect drastic change. And like someone above said, the internet shows them what they want to see- and that's how their fear grew. It doesn't help when they find that the younger generations are better educated on topics, when they had to work hard and study and stuff to get that kind of information and we have it at our fingertips. They're jelly, I think. Plus, they just have this idea integrated into their brains that they, as the older generation, know better.

But this isn't an excuse for the amount of damage they have done to the succeeding generations.
