I met her for the first time when we were very little. I barely even remember it, so there's not a lot of story there. I met her again in middle school and for some reason I had to get to know her. She just gave off this impression that she made everything she was a part of better.

And so I got to know her better. The better you know someone, the less they have to change for you to notice. As acquaintances, I noticed how she changed with major life events. As friends, I noticed how she changed semester by semester. Eventually as best friends, I felt like she was a different person every couple of weeks, shaped in some immeasurably small yet immeasurably wonderful way by each deviation from monotony.

As time went on, I thought to myself, "It'd take a lifetime to meet all of the different people she's going to become." Years passed, and eventually I realized I couldn't imagine a more worthwhile way to spend a lifetime. I wasn't even attracted to her yet at that point, but I knew I wanted to spend the rest of my life getting to know her.
