When I was a little kid, I must have been only 5 or 6 years old, I saw a girl with short hair and was utterly mind-blown. I was so jealous of her for looking like a boy and in my mind I called her a “girlboy” (little kids are weird).

I think shortly after I ended up cutting my own hair to look more like a boy... much to my mother’s chagrin.

I always felt there was something different about me. I remember a drawing I made in 2nd grade or so where I was surrounded by a bunch of blonde girls wearing pink and purple and I had my short black hair wearing red and blue. Looking back on it, it seems all too obvious. But it took me until I was 14 to finally realize what was really going on... and it took me another 5 years after that to finally start transitioning. Life is crazy!
