That's deeply myopic. These problems didn't spring onto existence in 2016. Democrats currently control all three branches of government and refuse to do anything good with it. They controlled them much more solidly after the 2008 election, and gave us so little in the way of stimulus that the recovery dragged on for a decade. They prove again and again and again that helping people isn't their priority. Maintaining their power and the status quo is all they believe in as an institution. And currently, since we're a two party system, all we can do electorally is be held hostage by democrats.

If we want real change, we need to find ways to wield power outside of whatever crumbs politicians decide to throw us. That's why so many are focusing on creating, joining and strengthening unions. If the working class can't build a capacity to affect capital, we have no hope of actually fighting them.
