When a funny misunderstanding involving penis graffiti features a child leash, the dicks of Reddit are let off the chain about what restraining your toddler says about your parenting abilities.

I'm sorry, but I'm struggling with how any of your points are proving anything here? No one saying child leashes are bad have given a single shred of evidence as to why besides "it's the same thing as a dog leash oh my gosh it's so dehumanising!" you're still not answering why it's more dehumanising than a crib, holding a child, carrying a child, play pens, feeder chairs, car seats, all things that restrain a child more. Holding your child literally restrains them from doing anything and all parents do this in dangerous situations. Holding a leash that you can let go of just like letting go of the hand you're holding is the same thing except, a leash gives you even more freedom.

Your only reason for not wanting to use it is because it's something that gets used by dogs too and there are a lot of things humans and dogs use together without there being any stigma to it. Particularly whistling, balls, potty trainers (litter boxes), etc.

It's not popular because of the stigma you people put behind it. This makes other parents who would greatly benefit using them and save a lot of children's lives afraid to use them because of the glaring looks and nasty comments. You have no idea where that parent is coming from and some children have special needs. There would be no stigma if people like you got over yourselves.

Some parents have learnt to not care about you luckily and slowly it will probably become more common place as fewer and fewer people care about the silly judgement. It's also not something that should get used all the time, most parents will only use it when it's actually needed, like a busy events, busy shopping centres, busy streets, etc. You get helicopter parents, but helicopter parents are going to helicopter no matter what you do. This isn't going to magically increase the amount of overbearing parents.

Leashes have as little in common with treating a child like a dog as throwing a ball at a child who will probably need to fetch it because they can't catch just like a dog does!

I dare you to respond to my comment with logical rational points that help you in this debate and actually addresses how it's dehumanising besides "it gets used on dogs" because that's been addressed and proven to have no relevance by others. You and everyone else agreeing with you has brought nothing to this to prove it actually is unethical to leash a kid in a busy dangerous city.
