When and how did you define your relationship? And when did you first say I love you to each other?

We were friends for 2.5 years, then expressed interest in seeing each other. We dated digitally for six months, met up, met again three months later and I said, “I love you”. He wasn’t ready at that time, but said it online three weeks later. At that point, we defined our relationship. We made sure to openly communicate our expectations and feelings every step of the way. When someone wasn’t ready, they were given the space and patience to make that decision. There is only so much time I would wait though. You can decide those commitment limits for yourself, but anything beyond a few months to a year (after meeting in person) might be pushing it.
