when you take into account financial woes, children actually reduced happiness, says study

I can believe this. Three of my coworkers are people parents, two of them are full-time parents to two children each. Even with one being married and having familial support for relief, that coworker is still miserable and constantly complains about how sleep deprived, exhausted, broke, and guilt-ridden they are. My other coworker also has two children. Their kids are much older and a lot more independent. That coworker also complains about the same things as the other coworker A.

Everyone else is either single with no kids or happily married with no kids. They constantly take last minute weekend trips, go out to new restaurants, bars, etc on the weekend, chill with friends to watch games, and just generally have a good time.

My mind was blown when I started noticing the night and day difference between the lifestyles and general levels of happiness between the parents of the workgroup and the childfree workers.
