I had just about given up on tier 40. Was getting boned by players clearly belonging to higher tiers (full combo type scores, obscure high ends, high level gear), getting boned by paywall tracks and was just flat out not having a good time.

My skid from my then-peak of tier 38 ended at tier 34. Since then, a double promotion and four consecutive single promotions have me in tier 40 just five weeks after my rock bottom. And more fair matching was the bulk of the difference.

Now that I completed all challenges, I'll definitely take a tactical demotion every now and then. It's not even about optimizing ruby counts. It's about having fun, for which a fair matching is crucial.
