When You Realize He Has Yellow Fever

It's a mix of yes and no, to be honest. The video here isn't really a good representation of yellow fever in my opinion; the dude clearly has a thing for various asian cultures and proudly displays a lot of things which would definitely be yellow flags (warnings, but not a red flag/dealbreaker) for a person who has an asian fetish, but that doesn't necessarily mean that they do have one. Asian fetish is more of a mindset of projecting stereotypes onto asians and using that to guide their love lives; the video is more about the comedienne using warning signs to prematurely cut off the relationship before she got confirmation that he actually had yellow fever.

That being said, a lot of what you said would be yellow flags. It's about how what you show reflects on the source which could make or break someone's opinion on you. Not all sources are created equal, and unfortunately we get a crapload of bad sources that are taken as true. Take Buddhism for example-- do you understand it in the same way it is understood by eastern buddhists? I often see western Buddhists explain the concept of Karma and treat it in a way which doesn't reflect what Karma actually is- instead it's often adapted to western philosophies. The most common way I see westerns explain Karma makes it look more like the pagan Threefold Law. And I'm going to take a shot in the dark and assume you don't personally believe in the caste system, which was entwined with Karma traditionally. This isn't even a new or western thing-- there are schools of buddhism which don't believe in the caste system either, inprinted with local philosophies when exported to China, Japan, Sri Lanka, wherever. You will always be looking at Asian cultures through a western perspective and that could really change whether someone sees you as being influenced by their culture or if they think it's misinformation of their culture (or if its particularly bad, maybe even a mockery of it). Even as an Asian-American myself, I can't even say I have the same culture as my asian family members since my Asian upbringing as been heavily influenced with western culture. I would definitely say this has affected relationships with more recently immigrated filipinos, so someone who is even less connected to the culture will have more problems.

(Disclaimer: I don't think that because someone's religious beliefs are adapted to their culture makes it inferior or invalid, it just makes it different from what the original demographic has)

The other stuff (anime, history, dance) is more based on relevance- an Asian-American you met who likes anime will probably not consider that a factor in if you have yellow fever or not. Interest in Joseon period history or Daoism probably won't even cause a blip by themselves either. In aggregate it looks worse, but your non-Asian interests would definitely make others less weary of possible yellow fever if they are represented just as well as the asian interests. Your cultural interests seem well-rounded so you probably won't have to worry about it anyways
