So you know when you have sleep paralysis, you'll see a dark figure? People who've experienced sleep paralysis, what did your dark figure look like?

Some years back I had some kind of month long episode where I would wake up paralyzed almost everyday.

The first time I was just confused because I was awake and I couldn't move my body. I wanted to call an ambulance but I couldn't. Then I started seeing a dark "hooded" figure with red eyes, approaching me. I started to panic and I eventually woke up, realizing I just had sleep paralysis. It happened again and again, it got pretty bad.. to the point where I was afraid of going to sleep, I started missing classes from school.

It was usually some dark zombie looking figure, pretty terrifying, and sometimes I would also hear screaming while it strangles me. It fills you with fear and feels like your heart is getting ripped from your chest. I eventually went to hospital, they put some wires on my head while I slept, and at the end they just said:

"Yea so you have parasomnia, go home".

They didn't give me any medicine or anything. But it eventually just stopped. They say it's not dangerous and stuff, nobody takes it seriously, I disagree, it can really mess you up.

I read that the hallucinations are caused by the brain because it thinks you're under attack when you wake up only partially, causing you to see an intruder in the room.
