When IS it time to get a new bicycle?

Not to toot, but I have had cyclists IRL ask me about going pro before. But that requires the ability to travel and when you are a single mom, some times you have to make sacrifices, like riding your bicycle all day, everyday, even in the snow or sometimes with a little kid perched on a foam noodle covered handlebar to make ends meet.

On a different note though, I’ve totally been eyeballing those disk brakes I keep seeing. I’m not sure how well they would look on my probably-from-the-90’s frankenbike. I really, really want to get a road bike some day for pleasure riding exclusively on all the new bike paths in my city, but I never seem to have the time for pleasure riding even with “the hell years” out of the way I’m riding more for function than fun. :( I’m less likely to die of a heart attack though. :)
