When was a time someone who considers themselves to be very open minded and tolerant proved to be exactly the opposite?

I think any time someone claims that they believe women should be allowed to dress whatever way they want, yet pity women who choose to dress conservatively and want so desperately for these women to be victims.

A perfect example of this is my fiancé's younger sister. She wears hijab of her own volition (my fiancé's mother doesn't wear it). She is certainly no victim. She's one of the strongest women I've ever met in my entire life and has accomplished so much for her young age. But soooo many so called open minded, tolerant people have dismissed or straight up disbelieved her when she says she feels more comfortable with her hair covered than not. They just can't seem to let go of their assumptions that her dad and/or husband must be forcing her to wear it.
