when you turn 18, or if your child turns 18, do you still need to ask your parents permission before going out or making plans?

I also never required she ask me for permission after the age of 18. Just that she let me know if she was not coming home that night. I moved out of my parents house at 16 because I despised having to live by other peoples rules. My parents were not strict in any way and they were very loving. Still are. I just did not like being told what to do and when to do it. My daughter was/is the same way. Very independent.

Everyone is different though and all situations are different. Sometimes parents keep a tighter leash than need be and sometimes they have a good reason for the tighter leash. Not knowing anything about you or your parents, I can not really say what is right for your situation. All I can say is you gotta do what is best for you in the long run.
